What experience do I need to own a franchise with Circle K?
The Circle K franchise owner shares our philosophy and is passionate about creating a unified customer journey that supports brand loyalty and gives them a one-stop shop for motor fuel and merchandise. You or key members of your team should have experience in fuel, QSR, retail, or multi-site operations.
If you are a current convenience store owner interested in a conversion franchise, you must have no more than two years left on an existing fuel supply agreement.
We also welcome commercial real estate developers with sites with 1.5 – 3 acres, 200 ft minimum frontage, and 25K+ average daily traffic (ADT)
We offer co-location opportunities as well for QSR restaurant owners that could benefit from Circle K’s steady traffic engine.
What is provided as part of the Circle K franchise program?
Franchise owners and their managers will spend 3 weeks in immersive training on the Circle K franchise model, both in the classroom and on the job. When it’s time for your Grand Opening, our franchise team will travel to your location to make sure you are calm, confident, and excited when you open your doors. Owners will have access to the Circle K Confidential Operations Manual for daily operations and can count on ongoing operational coaching and FranConnect integration and dashboard access. Our team is available to assist you when you need us. We are always just a call or click away.
How much will the Circle K franchise program cost me?
The estimated initial investment necessary to begin operations ranges from $934,500 to $3,651,000 for conversion franchises and $3,079,500 to $8,301,500 for new builds. This includes a $25,000 initial franchise fee for a single franchise location and $75,000 to $100,000 for a multi-site franchise. As with any new venture, it’s important to have adequate capital to fund the initial business growth stages.
Is financing available?
We offer no-interest, no-payment partial funding for conversions and may provide capital for new builds, and we may refer to third-party financing sources as well on a case-by-case basis.
Are there ongoing fees to pay?
We collect a royalty fee equal to the greater of 3.5% of gross sales and $0.0075 per gallon of motor fuel sales, or $1,500 per Accounting Period. Fees such as these allow us to fund our ongoing Circle K support services and the continued development of programs, marketing tools, training programs, recipes, and systems upgrades. For a full list of fees and requirements, please refer to our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).
Are there any advertising fees?
Circle K franchise owners will be required to spend 0.25% of gross sales (of up to $125,000) per Accounting Period of up to $125,000 for general promotional costs, up to 1.25% of gross sales (of up to $125,000) per Accounting Period on local and regional promotional costs, and up to 0.25% of gross sales (of up to $125,000) per Accounting Period on national promotional costs. You will also be required to have a grand opening celebration and will be reimbursed for pre-approved expenditures in the amount of $0.50 for each $1.00 you spend, up to a maximum reimbursement of $4,000.
What is the term of the agreement?
The initial term of your agreement is ten years, with two subsequent successor agreement options of five years each.
